Petya I. Edwards Foundation Utilizes Social Media to Raise Awareness

When it comes to getting information to as many people as possible very quickly, social media has proven to be the best medium of communication. No longer only for teenagers, social media has played an interesting and very important role in the marketing of non-profit organizations. As a way to raise awareness about issues and update people on developments, social media is the best tool out there.

Petya I. Edwards Foundation is now utilizing social media and would love to connect to all its supporters and followers via Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The Foundation provides updated information pertaining to fundraising events and work that is being accomplished by the organization. Furthermore, sites such as Facebook will provide a place for people who have worked with or benefitted from the Petya I. Edwards Foundation to tell their stories and to support others who are involved. The goal of Petya I. Edwards Foundation, in regard to the use of social media, is to simply raise awareness and provide a forum in which to create a positive community of supporters.

Petya I. Edwards Foundation is the effort of Petya Edwards to continue the philanthropic work she started in Bulgaria here in America. Petya is committed to helping underprivileged children and families in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. The Foundation offers education and support, both financial and emotional, to those in need. In Hong Kong, homophobia is still a huge problem. For most of my adulthood I have lived in New York mostly as I wish to distance myself from my family in order to not negatively affect them because of who I am.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) is an annual event celebrated every May 17.
